If people don't take it to the streets, nothing will change. That much is already clear. As far as I can tell, most politicians in my country, Germany, and the US, are basically puppets of the rich capitalist playing their little power games. Or rather, you don't get into power, if you're not part of the establishment (which is why some smaller parties here remain small and play no bigger role even if their ideas might be good). It's kind of hilarious how many Western citizens lament over oligarchs in eastern countries, when their own countries have institutionalized the concept of oligarchy.

But anyway, I fear the time window for a peaceful change towards circular economy and planet-friendly livelihood is closing rapidly. Just take a look at this:

It's always the same. I see these kinds of news everyday, coupled with news about new record heats, forest fires, and other climate-change-induced catastrophes. Our politicians are all about promises and words, but when it comes to following up, they'll bow to the capitalists and their lobbies like the #FossilLobby.

And "luckily" we got the capitalist-owned media that tells people what they are supposed to believe, so that the majority of people (who don't have the time to care about such matters in the first place because the capitalist system makes it difficult for them to make a living as labor slaves) believes the current system will help us through this mess with a few tweaks here and there.

It's simply appalling and infuriating.

Bottom line is that the link between rising CO2 emissions and increasing weather extremes has been made clear 17 years ago. The occurrence of climate extremes now could have been prevented.

Instead #FossilLobby enhanced disinformation campaigns and haunted climate scientists.

I try all that as well, barely using any plastic where possible, not owning a car, not flying, eating no meat, repairing stuff instead of buying new, etc..

But you need to be aware of a small but crucial and sad fact: all of it is based on a trick of the #FossilLobby.

The oil company BP is infamous for its carbon footprint, but other companies also blow in the same flute. They tell you: "You want to save the planet, great. You just need to change your own lifestyle, and if everyone else does the same, it will work out."
Basically, they shift responsibility for living a nature-friendly, ecological life to the individual.

That is a lie. A wretched, infuriating ploy.

No individual in Western societies is able to become completely nature-friendly, plastic-free, or ecologically sustainable. No one. Because no one produces everything they need themselves.

We live in a society that is built like a clockwork. Each cog supports other cogs, and no cog will run without the other cogs. Some cogs might get replaced with newer or different cogs, but ultimately, the clockwork still needs to operate as a whole.

Telling a tiny screw on a tiny cog to change its direction is dishonest and cunning.

So why do #FossilLobby and #capitalists propagate such blatant lies?

Because they fear people implementing the sole way to solve this issue in the proper way: establishing societal policies. If you forbid factory farming, plastic production, car usage, plane usage, etc., then the profits created by all these businesses will be immediately gone, and the owners will sit on mostly worthless property.

And thus they use their own channels to tell tales of "every person being responsible for changing themselves", although it should be "society should be responsible to change it for every person while making sure that it's possible for everyone to live like that."

Der Spot ist natürlich Kjasse. Macht er der #FossilLobby Angst?

Mich überzeugt die Argumentation von Andreas #Malm, dass die #klimakrise, in der Zeitnot die wir haben, nicht mehr länger bekämpft werden kann, ohne die Infrastrukturen der #Erdöl- und #FossilLobby zu sabotieren und deren Investitionen riskant zu machen - indem ein radikaler Flügel (neben dem politischen Weg und zivilem Widerstand) z. B. Pipelines oder neu geplante Gasterminals sprengt, falls nötig - natürlich immer, ohne Menschen zu gefährden.

Wer hat es auch gelesen und was haltet ihr davon?

Das ist eine guter Anlass, um darauf hinzuweisen, dass das #KIT @KIT_Karlsruhe noch immer von der #FossilLobby durchsetzt ist. Ich fordere #Technologieoffenheit statt ideologisches Pampern von #Vergangenheitstechnologie und #Ökozid!

@Perowinger94 Es liegt mir fern die Rechtsradikalen Schwurbler von der FDP zu verteidigen, aber die Hauptursache für diese ganze Heizungsproblematik haben Union und SPD verursacht in dem diese drei Parteien über ein Jahrzehnt alles in diese Richtung geblockt haben im Auftrage der #FossilLobby (Union) und #Putler (SPD) (höchstwahrscheinlich dasselbe anyway)

Keine Sorge. So lange musst mit dem #Klimawandel nicht warten. Das mit der Würde ist spätestens nächstes Jahrzehnt vorbei. Nächstes Jahr, wenn El Nino voll einschlägt, gibt's schon mal einen klaren Vorgeschmack, vermute ich. Vielleicht rüttelt das dann paar Leute auf, dass diese Regierung und ihre Vorgänger nur den Interessen der #FossilLobby und Kapitalisten frönen. 🤷‍♂️
