Itās been a busy reading week for me. I finished The Librarianist and read A History of What Comes Next. Very different books but I really enjoyed both of them. Currently reading The Unnamed Midwife.

Not a great reading week. I'm having trouble reading much at all, but little by little tackling 3 books. And Then There Were Nuns by Jane Christmas, Attention Span by Gloria Mark, and Brave the Wild River by Melissa L Sevigny.
I'm also reading Book Scavenger by Melissa Chambliss Bertman to my son and we are enjoying it so far.
John #Updike a rather randy gent, was writing this black sex comedy full of exquisite dialogue and dread, and then, it seems, decided to kick his readers square in the gut. Rabbit, Run caught me off guard in the best way. #novel #FridayReads
This week I finished two books. I have not been reading as much as I'd like for myself, but I did at least finish The World as We Knew It by Amy Brady and Tajja Isen. It is an essay collection with a bunch of different writers with a mix of quality, but overall I'd recommend it.
Just last night I finished When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin with my son. My son gave it 3 stars because it paled in comparison to Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.

I finished Under the Henfluence by Tove Danovich and enjoyed it. The World As We Knew It by Amy Brady and Tajja Isen is my current main read.
My son and I are still reading When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin.

Late #FridayReads, a reminder that the Bronx I grew up in was worse than my rose-colored memories of it, but also gave birth to something amazing. (Hip-hop, not me!)

"City of Villains: Why I Donāt Trust Batman" by Sarah Gailey
Many of my favorite Batman stories don't actually feature him (eg, Gotham Central), and I love anything that leans into the idea of a billionaire vigilante maybe not being the best superhero.
Gailey nails it in this great short story (not a comic) from the perspective of a goon just trying to make a living in the shadows of the bat signal.

I'm currently still reading Under the Henfluence by Tove Danovich and started The World As We Knew It by Amy Brady and Tajja Isen.
And I'm still reading When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin with my son.
Not a great reading week. But end of the school year has been busy and I have just not had the proper concentration for books lately.

I was ambivalent about the Peacock reality show but intrigued by the idea of Swedish Death Cleaning, so I went to the source and am enjoying it a lot more. Magnusson's pragmatic approach and authentic voice are more appealing than Poehler's snark, and at barely 100 pages, it's refreshingly brisk and focused.
I finished Marrying the Ketchups by Jennifer Close (and really liked it). My son and I finished The Great Bear by David Alexander Robertson (and liked it even more than the first book in the series).
I started Land of Spices by Kate O'Brien for myself and When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin with my son.

This week I finished The Dutch House by Ann Patchett and loved it. And I started Marrying the Ketchups by Jennifer Close.
I'm near finishing The Great Bear by David Alexander Robertson with my son. And it's good. We like it better than the first in the Misewa series.

This week I finished Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club by J. Ryan Stradal and I really liked it. He is now one of my favorite authors after 3 really good books. And bonus is that the books always take place near where I originally am from.
I bailed on a few books and started Under the Henfluence by Tove Danovich and it seems pretty good so far.
We are very close to finishing my son's bedtime read: The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan.
