Backxwash is very angry. As a Black trans woman, she's got plenty to be angry about, and it shows in the music. The verses punch hard, Ada Rook's chorus growls and snarls, and the industrial backing pounds with great fury.

Not easy listening, disquieting and personal as it is, but damn worth it.

I don't know where to start with this one. The vibes are appropriately Turkish, given the band's heritage, and there's an excellent groove riding underneath, but there's also a delicious weirdness to the whole affair. I just really, REALLY like it.

Like most of my new music finds recently, I discovered 90s American Superstar via Bandcamp Daily. A tight 5-track mini album full of alt-pop goodness, with this, the final track, being the standout.

Achingly cool and surprisingly dense, it features layers of lovely fuzz and simply drips with style. Wallice is a talent to keep an eye on, with her natural panache and knack for a catchy tune.

Coming on like your favourite track from a Persona OST, this is probably MC Itsuka and DJ Gonchi at their best.

Former office ladies turned #JPop geniuses, they made some of the catchiest damn tunes I've ever heard. Itsuka's sharpened raps and Gonchi's sweet backups over an addictive background strum leading to a hands-in-the-air chorus. Pure bliss.

Also - total style icons. Fierce, werk, etc.

For starters, this remarkable piece of #DungeonSynth flavoured #BlackMetal from the alarmingly prolific #Trhä and the album Inagape.

All the classic black metal moves are there, with plenty of guitar shred and screaming, but the moody synth lines add an otherworldliness that elevates the whole.
