The difference between Hooker’s fairy bells and Smith’s fairy bells are easy to spot once you know what to look for. Most obvious: Hooker’s (Posartes hookeri) has bell-shaped flowers and fuzzy leaves; Smith’s (P. smithii) has tubular flowers and smooth leaves. Underneath, Smith’s has a waxy coating that reflects light like slug slime does. (Trust me. People who live near fairy bells know how slug slime reflects light. #pnw )

Me: 😎
