Today’s wonder is the track #Ethics, by #Front242. An #EBM electronic piece from 1982 with a catchy bassline and splendid vocals. It’s kind of a pity #DirkBergen left the band so early as I like a lot of their super early material and I feel he brought a psychedelic vibe to the Belgian pioneers.

4 on the floor beat, 16th note bass line, rhythmic repeating minimalism with filters, this track could be played as a #trance track at a club today. Yet it is from 1981, years before this style of music would emerge. Is it possibly the first ever #techno track?

@ericjwrites ah well #Front242 is one of all time favourite bands (we brought them to play in Finland for the first time, fantastic artists)! FLA was influenced by them and has collaborated with them. So you’re right about the connection! #SkinnyPuppy is very hit or miss for me. Some of it is great, other bits awful.

I find their side project, #Download, more interesting these days. From experimental (#EyesOfStanleyPain) to groovy (#Effector) to dancy (#Helicopter).
