The study analysed #EU and US agri policies from 2014 to 2020. It found the amount of public money spent on #plant-based alternatives (1.5% of sales) was just 0.1% of the subsidies spent on meat and dairy. EU cattle farmers got >50% of their income from direct subsidies
For research and innovation spending, 97% went to animal farmers

The Paris Agreement, which uses geographical accounting, gives Australia a fig leaf under which to hide the #emissions from the products it creates.
The difficulty as I see it is conflating an accounting system to track emissions (essential for understanding) with ethical responsibility to avert a worsening, and potentially existential, crisis.
Double counting #GHGs isn't advisable, but double counting efforts to curb them ASAP is!

Embodied #emissions is a different accounting system.
In consumer-based (carbon footprint) accounting, emissions are labelled by (embedded in) a product or activity, rather than location.
In geographical accounting, #GHGs are labelled by emitting location (Scope 1). Those from electricity generated elsewhere (Scope 2) or released elsewhere from end product use (Scope 3) aren't included.
The global total is the same, but the distribution by nation or group is different.

When it comes to greenhouse gas emissions, the worst of the plant foods studied is better than the best of the meats studied.
If you'd give up just one meat, from a carbon perspective alone, beef is the one.
