Question for #GI #Gastroenterology, #Celiac mastodon. Was asked this question and realized I had assumed an answer. I assumed that the (iron deficiency) anemia seen with celiac disease was secondary to chronic blood loss caused by the chronic inflammation. But I was asked why would it not be iron deficiency secondary to malabsorption. 🤷‍♂️
