After last week's critique by the #GSFWC, I've spent a lot of time thinking about my current work in progress. One of my approaches to #writing is to dismantle an idea and write my way towards something that works for me. The other day I wrote 1000 words to replace my previous 400 word intro. And now, just as I'm winding down, reading in bed, I find myself writing the same scene again, but from somewhere else. Not necessarily the most helpful writing tool, but it is a reflection of how I brain.

Managed to write a story before the end of 22, which given my head space was something. Put it through the #GSFWC grinder last night. Always the fun of cut this scene vs make it longer. But the biggest thanks go as always to 4am brain who has all the answers and doesn’t understand sleep is quite important. Oh sleep, sweet sleep, I miss you. #Writing #insomnia #knackered

Doing a writing critique is always a weird thing. It used a totally different part of my brain. Things I'd skip over without noticing while reading for pleasure bring me to a stand still and lead to lots of notes. I've read 7 pages and already have 2 pages of notes. Gone 11, and technically this is 1st breakfast. Listening to the remastered #Coil live album that I bought from #ThighPaulSandra the other week - don't think this is one I had heard before. Preparing to do some #critical #reading for #writing friends. Drinking coffee. #gsfwc

The artist at fifty. Been celebrating my birthday all weekend. Roller derby on Saturday, with Glasgow beating Aberdeen. Best Japanese restaurant with friends. Drinks in our regular post- #GSFWC pub. Currywurst with brother. Ramen with other friends, before seeing the film Violent Night. Lunch with parents today from the Christmas menu. And a catch up with sister. Obviously books and tea were received. #birthday #books #RollerDerby #food #selfies

Reminded, by the ongoing flash bang of the evening, how we were all sat in our #writing group, discussing the Story, when there was a big bang and we all jumped then laughed. #GSFWC
