There's no such thing as a good defederated #Mastodon fork.

We have #Gab, run by an open neo-nazi

We have #CounterSocial, a mess of a website that's years out of date and laughably insecure

We have #TruthSocial, a MAGA cesspit

All of these sites are complete echo chambers, all are absurdly censorious, and AFAIK all of them (#CoSo especially) demand money for features that are available on Mastodon for free.

IMHO #blocking an entire instance should be seen as the nuclear option it really is and only be exercised against the most toxic and vile sites that refuse to moderate if not encourage #hategrooming and serial - #harrasment.

(Yes, as far as Mastodon clients go, Tusky is pretty popular... Mostly because it's pretty good).

Not relevant, but #Gab, like #CounterSocial, locks some features behind a paywall. And #CoSo blocks third party clients...

@x_minus_t I agree. On Discord, an idiot right winger was trying to tell me the benefits of #Gab . 'Don't you care about Free Speech?' I responded by posting a reviews of #Gab from the web. He didn't like it that they said gab had 'Conservative Bias'. I responded by saying 'Facts have a liberal bias.'

#Twitter will become worthless when #Liberals delete their accounts. Let's face facts, left leaning people far out number #conservaidiots . Otherwise, #gettr , #truthsocial , #gab , #parler would be worth something rather than a worthless website with no advertisers.

As much as I'm not a fan of instance-wide blocking, there are reasons basically every instance is blocking #Gab and the few other hategrooming cesspools!

I hope @stux / @stux@masto.ai takes a look at it and also decides to block / defederate said instances as "necessary evil" to maintain a safe or at the very least non-toxic envoirment.

Basically almkst all Mastodon Server & Instances are blocking #Gab for being a reactionary hategrooming forum that is known for serial-harassers.

Having just spent the best part of 15 minutes looking for an #eCard #ChristmasCard that plays "Horst-Wessel-Lied" to send to my remaining #Twitter friends, I can confirm that this doesn't appear to be a thing that exists anywhere.

Admittedly, I didn't look on #Gab, #Parler or #TruthSocial but I am not that desperate.
