I can't praise enough what Gail Simone did with her Secret Six. It's not really easy -and very rarely done-, taking a bunch of mostly second tier villains and write a whole series. But this is done out of pure talent for characterization, dialogue and plot, where you can really feel for this rather despicable gang, surprises are on every issue, and a (dark) sense of humor gives some air between all the action and death. A very underrated modern classic, if you ask me.
