I came across a galah on Sunday doing its thing looking for food on an open patch of grass. Even the overcast weather couldn't hide the gorgeous pink.

Took a shortcut through a small industrial area in the SE suburbs of #melbourne the other day and spotted these cute displays.
A pink #galah with a gorgeous head crest and a #kookaburra - these were painted on corrugated iron, which (I imagine) would have been challenging.
Also a #birdofparadise, #butterfly, #puppy and girl with a watering can tending to the little palms.
This was displayed on a brick wall of another nearby factory, separated by a staff carpark.
An unexpected, but pleasant little find!

Historically if someone in Oz called another person a #Galah theyd be saying theyâre not so bright.
But in reality, these birds are super switched-on⊠they know exactly whatâs happening around them, make eye contact, assess threat levels to perfection and only deviate from exploring and foraging if they âneedâ to, as a result.

It is among the most common of the cockatoos.
With its distinctive pink and grey plumage and its bold and loud behaviour, it is a familiar sight in the wild and increasingly in urban areas.
This one was shot around the corner from home foraging in the grass.
In Oz if you reckon someoneâs being a little stoops, theyâre often referred to as one of these birds⊠âyouâre a galah, mate!â
