‘Tressa, the Merchant’ is the theme of, well, Tressa Colzione, the merchant, who you meet in the port town of Rippletide. She’s curious, cheerful, passionate, and, despite a bit of imposter syndrome at times, being the daughter of two merchants, she is savvy and shrewd. The first part of her theme feels like it encompasses the warmth, curiosity, and general outlook she has. (1/?)

This is the first in a series of posts gushing about my favourite soundtracks.

Octopath Traveler is, simply put, the soundtrack we thought we heard in the pixel art era: Melody-driven pieces, mimicking pieces of that era by having, at most, 3 or 4 distinct musical lines playing at once, played by an orchestra. This creates tight tracks that are memorable and individually distinct. For starters, here’s the main theme.

The Endwalker soundtrack is probably my absolute favorite game soundtrack ever from start to finish. Soken has truly become a worthy successor to Uematsu in every possible sense. I can't gush about Endwalker and Shadowbringers music enough.

So, having a little bit of a struggle, honestly.

I need to compose (retro-)music for my game sooner or later, but am pretty much blanking.

Honestly I play with the idea to use an older song, but haven't added any in my games so far. (except the pico stuff)

Still what I could really use are some tutorials/advice.

I know how to use trackers (like famitracker and others), but what I struggle with is the actual composition part.

Just winging it doesn't work.

Added a mein menu to my game and the background music.

Attached the background music to this (might be loud, so be careful)

btw. I added the delayed echo to the sides on purpose.

I had to use audacity to increase the volume and then thought: "Wait, when I have to after-edit anyway, I could also add cool effects"

Also really happy to use my own music for stuff.
