I am through my first run of #eldenring by now and I must say it was a great experience.

Still some bosses do cheat too much with their AoE spam.

That does not negate the great exploration, the vast world and all the fun and awesome things to discover.
Also the area design and the enemy design is just amazing :)

As part of looking back on my #gameoftheyear, or well, my multiple different GOTY's, must say, #CultoftheLamb is definitely the coolest looking game, and one of the more interesting conceptually, even if it drags at bits and isn't always able to mix the two parts well.

Got an amazing soundtrack as well, one of the few OST's I've listened to even after finishing. It's great.

One my favourite Indies this year.

Thinking about games that I was late to playing, and finished in 2022, #TalesofArise was definitely one of the pluses. Not the pinnacle of the Tales series (not as good as Berseria or Abyss imo) but it was a good adventure, the leading pair had a good dynamic (Tales seem really good at that aspect in general), the cast was good (not as good as Berseria's cast of rogues/messed up pirate family, but hey, that's hard to top).

Definitely worth checking out.

That said, #Splatoon3 was definitely my favourite for multiplayer. Don't normally play team based online shooters (or online shooterd generally), so really impressed that it got me enthusiastically playing matches when I never fell into Overwatch or TF2. So, you know, props to that, really fun vs mode, Salmon Run's pretty good, and single player better than I really expected.

So yeah, Elden Ring as general #gameoftheyear, but this is my multiplayer GOTY just for making me play online for once.

Yeah, when reflecting on my #GameoftheYear, it's going to be #EldenRing. Not a shocker, and it's no perfect, but one of the best open world RPGs recently and got that fun Soulsy combat. It and Pokemon: Legends Arceus ate most of the first half of the year for me when it came to #gaming.

Just did my #Switch wrap up and it let me pick my #GameOfTheYear from the choices of the most played games each month. This was not even a question for me, #LiveALive was just a phenomenal RPG. I think everything that made it a hard sell in the 90s makes it stand out now, so it deserves more love.

My #GameOfTheYear is Go Vacation.
It's a 2018 Switch port of a 2011 Wii game but its the only game I've actually had time to chip away at since I grabbed it cheap in cex in September.

Even with my busy work year I've made sure to take out just half an hour every day to do the daily challenges and work towards 100% completion.

A wonderfully chill open world Wii Sports resort like. Highly recommended if you enjoy casual sports games of the Wii era.
