@colinpurrington These are so awesomely surreal. I want to figure out how to make this work in my garden. I’m imagining they’re “moss balls”—a metal spherical cage with moss packed inside— and the hydrangea-or maybe several small ones—planted in the midst so the stems come out. And then I’m supposing its trained with bonsai wire to keep it symmetrical. Watering would need to be daily I’d imagine. Or else run a drip line down the suspension wire.

Finally neatened up the garden shed enough to get a chair back in there. Discovered I still had row cover hoops still in the packaging. Took a whole garbage bag out of the 6 by 9 foot space. Nice spot up here for the radio. #Gardening

And so the allotment terrace progresses. After some nasty carpentry using crap materials, I started to backfill against the terrace framework.
My brother helped me and together we filled the entire area with the soil previously piled above it.
I now have a flat terrace full of really good soil.
As a bonus, from moving the spoil heaps to backfill, I also have a mini terrace above it.
And I found some woodchips in an alley to replace the stolen ones (I knew I would).

The big watermelon weighs in at 38.4 pounds. The scale wasn't behaving after we weighed the first one, but we assume the smaller melon is about 20 lbs. @mgrass @urbanistorg Occasionally at #MasterGardener clinics people will ask me what’s an easy, low-effort fruit tree for the #PacificNorthwest and I always tell them plums. Relatively pest free in our area, they don’t require the spraying regime that apples generally do, and you get a ton of yummy fruit. #Gardening

An example of the week I've been having in the gardens is aptly demonstrated by this week's yield of green beans.

Last week 5 lbs. This week 1.5 lbs.

I almost pulled them up last night except that there where new leaves and beans to harvest.

Yellow stains streak most of this week's laundry, I hope they're not permanent, but are a testament to the chaos.

My first cape gooseberry, these were a complete impulse seed purchase, had no idea they’d grow here in the UK. Sharp and tasty! #Gardening

I maybe could've coaxed a few more tomatoes from these plants, but they did their thing and gave us plenty of tomatoes.

Now it's time to see if i can get tomatoes from seedlings before it gets too cold. It usually stays pretty warm here through Halloween, so we'll see.

It's crazy how fast figs ripen on the tree. I checked the tree on Friday and picked everything that was ripe. By Tuesday morning, this handful of figs was almost overripe.
