It's cool this morning. Autumn is coming, but I'm determined to squeeze every last 80°+ F #summer day out of the season. So at my grocery store we’ve three, maybe four kinds of potatoes... just look at what we’re missing. These are all types of potato still grown in Peru, birthplace of potatoes in general.

I’ve been reading this article on “Miyazaki forests”. (Gift link below). I’ve heard of them before. Maybe not the panacea they’re made out to be, certainly not for a warming and dissembling planet. We really like solutions that make us feel good about ourselves. And these certainly do. But instead of replanting quarter acre plots at $18k a pop, how about we just stop deforesting to begin with?

I guess I need to water the #garden... The bottoms of the tomato plants are drying out. Most of the tomatoes harvested. Not sure if they will even put on any more blossoms? 🤔 The rest of the garden could really use a 💧💦🌊🌧🌦🌩💧🌊🪣🚿💦 since we are still stuck in this #HeatDome.

More late-blooming plants in the garden. This is Ligularaia dentata. The first two photos are of cultivar ‘Desdemona’ and the third photo is ‘Britt Marie Crawford’. Big, bold foliage emerges very dark bronze and greens somewhat over the season, then these brilliant orangey yellow blooms appear in late summer that seem so at odds with the broody demeanor of the leaves. Likes moist to wet soil, part shade. USDA zones 4-9.
