In 2020 a trans author named Isabelle Fall published an absolutely kick-ass short story about mind-body interfaces & military hardware. she was hounded and belittled until she retracted the story, By "liberals" who denigrated her bc they hadn't read the story & didn't like the title "I sexually identify as an attack helicopter."

She will probably never publish again. Fuck everyone who drove away this incandescent talent.

@Schaumkroenchen Good point! I agree about #PeerReview being not a very good, but at least one measure to ensure scientific quality. And of course we shouldn't stop reviewing at all! The article is however very true about the #gatekeeping that journals and conferences establish in their peer-review processes. Like that, they prevent progress and visibility of especially inexperienced researchers by transforming science into a "weak-link problem" instead of a democratic, open process.
