Oof we did a 50 km bike ride to Aylmer and back today for Kyle's birthday, with a picnic! We're both very sore 😆 and we finally went across the new bridge, but the cross wind was scary!!

There were a few stupid detours, and Kyle got to yell at a couple drivers in downtown Ottawa.

Hey #Ottawa #Gatineau friends, where would you recommend eating nearish Chaudière (in either city)? We landed a babysitter for tomorrow night and plan to #OttBike #VeloGat to Festibiere and have a nice dinner before hand.

If you're looking for vistas of the downtown skyline, the three circles on this map are my favourites. Note, however, that there isn't really any place to stop on Avenue #Gatineau to view as you careen down the hill!

Lemoyne park has some benches at the top of the hill that you can sit and view things. If you're biking there, definitely approach from La Verendrye rather Saint-René!

The strip along Chemin des Terres is where many locals gather to watch the fireworks downtown on Canada Day/New Years. There's actually a bike path that passes under the highway just to the East of the best viewing area.

In Gatineau Park, the path to Watsford Lookout, accessible from Kingsmere, has some points where you get a vista of the #Ottawa skyline as well. It's a very distant view, however.

The #OttawaRiver is on #FloodWarning. Rideau Valley Conservation Authority reports water levels nearing 5-yr and 10-yr return periods, although likely to go up with more rain in the coming days.

It's the first net zero carbon archival centre in the Americas.
