This Santos thing is reminding me of thoughts from a decade ago

Round Iraq invasion time there was this conservative luminary (conservative wattage) of Scandinavian descent who heaped praise on #GeorgeWBush w/ things like "If you look in his eyes you see a man of great vision" (couldn't find the original quote, sorry).

But looking at a picture of 43 I thought "Really? Me, I see a loser". Months later I realized that an important factor for his election was loser appeal.
