Found the most amazing #art thread on Twitter today explaining all about genre paintings such as Girl With A Pearl Earring by Johannes #Vermeer. I had assumed it was a portrait, but it turns out it is a ‘tronie’, a fabricated person and a study of character to show off artistic technique.
