Glastonbury Festival is being run on renewable energy this year - even a giant, fire breathing spider is powered by recycled biofuel (if, indeed, it's not just a hallucination!)

Just turned the telly on, and wow! It comes to something when the lead guitarists hat is more easily recognisable than the lead singer!

I've wasn't using this much a year ago, so I guess I've never said anything on Mastodon about how I'm entirely* responsible for the BBC's coverage of Glastonbury.

Anyway, about 1999ish, I wrote a letter to Melody Maker (I used to do this quite a lot, one of them was about penguins). This letter highlighted how the BBC's televised music broadcasting was almost entirely classical, and was that really fair?

Everything that wasn't classical had to be crammed into Jools Holland's show, Top of the Pops, or a few hours of Glastonbury highlights (mostly John Peel and Jo Whiley talking) once a year. And that's an awful lot of music.

It was letter of the week! I won... something, I don't know. The Melody Maker turned that into a campaign for more music broadcasting. The following week, the NME joined in.

Couple of weeks after that, the BBC announced a huge increase in their Glastonbury coverage, hours more of live sets, more than double what that's ever done before.

And now, their annual broadcast from Worthy Farm is huge. And I started that ball rolling. Me.

*possibly a small exaggeration

Watching Th’Arctics at . They were quite dull, but have now pitched into their really dull newer piano lounge stuff. Which is progress in a way. were much better, as were T’Foos.

May I recommend starting your day, as I just did, by hearing yourself being recommended as the number one thing to see at this year?

Also: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
