This trade-off is exacerbated by the preference of US market for stupidly large cars with massive range; focussing on such vehicles seems to be a very non-optimal use of the critical battery minerals budget.

Of course, a much more optimal use would probably be building lots of electric bikes and scooters for personal use, and electric trams/buses for mass transit, and getting everyone to use those instead of cars. #GoodLuckWithThat
