The #US state of #Georgia is the best current example of the death of even the idea of #democracy in this country as it prosecutes people in clear and open violation of the most basic of our supposed #CivilRights, #FreedomOfSpeech and association, as the #federal #government does literally nothing to stop the #state, tacitly granting its full approval.

The #US #legal system is not at all about #justice, but about justifying our #carceral #PrisonIndustrialComplex which imprisons people at a much higher rate than any other country—about as many as #China—while, obscenely, inhumanely, and unjustly, creating massive #profits for both "#PrivatePrison" #corporations and contractors for #government-run #jails and #prisons.

Our entire system must be rebuilt, and #courtrooms need to be included in that process.

Elected officials are ELECTED from candidates who RUN FOR OFFICE. The candidate who GETS THE MOST VOTES wins the office. If younger candidates DON'T RUN, then they CAN'T WIN. If the people clamoring for younger reps DON'T VOTE, those candidates CAN'T WIN. And if those candidates campaign on attacking people over 40 who DO VOTE, guess what? That candidate CAN'T WIN.
