A little background before I introduce the tune that the Brain DJ has going this morning: I have never been able to be a fan of the Rolling Stones, but I do admire some of their songs. And so we have –

The Flying Burrito Brothers, "Wild Horses" (1970)

The song was gifted to Gram Parsons in December 1969, and the version by the Stones was released in 1971.

Great Albums – 1970s: - (1974). Parsons’s last LP before his tragic death bridged country and rock without the chilling effect such hybrids can have on both genres. Originals like “Brass Buttons” and “In My Hour of Darkness” sound timeless as the Tom T. Hall and Louvin Brothers chestnuts he interprets. Emmylou Harris is a key accomplice, harmonizing with Parsons like an angel taming the demons ready to haul him off.
