On the first day of the #USOpen, my quarterly reminder (and losing battle) that the four biggest #tennis tournaments are individually called majors, and all four together are the #GrandSlam. So if one wins them all, they have achieved the grand slam. Now some will add other features like winning them all in one year, that’s the calendar slam. Or winning them all in one year plus a gold medal at the Olympics, that’s the golden slam, achieved only by Steffi Graf 1988. Yes I’m being pedantic.
