It’s sometimes hard to understand what’s going on in #react rendering when the state management combines Apollo #GraphQL, #Recoil and React itself and half the screen flashes when clicking around with the debug tools enabled 😵‍💫

And the render reasons are often not very helpful 🙄

Time to simplify various components and cleaning up.
Also checking out various new Recoil features they added. Though their API & docs could be nicer.

They expose an #GraphQL api. So far I was unable to even find the scraper code on github.

✅ #GraphQL search endpoints were extracted into separated app
✅ Opt out page was polished
✅ Frontend was migrated to #NextJS 13 and AppDir api
✅ Improved frontend UI by introdcing load placeholders and by fixing of several glitches
✅ Frontend was migrated to esm modules
✅ Properly fixed robot.txt handling in crawler

@adingbatponder Great project! At some point you should make a ROI calculation. I started to try and make my own dashboard from the #graphql API using code sandbox. I am not really a developer so im working with #ChatGPT. Are you plaing on making the switch to batery automatically polling live data from the API?

I've been working on our in-house customer management and billing tool "Cabana" for months (on and off between other projects). It's based on #NeosFlow, #GraphQL and #React and it is a perfect opportunity for me to improve my UI development skills.

Now it's the last week before holidays and I wonder if I'll manage to finish invoicing to the degree that enables us to switch invoicing to Cabana on January 1st. Let's try … 🙈

From someone who's never used #GraphQL, I really have to ask, does anybody actually like it?

Wrote some #Golang DB code with pgx on a low level. Around 1.8ms to execute a request with 2 simple joins on my desktop (12c/32gb/7000 SSD) machine. Will now benchmark against Graphjin #GraphQL server side code.

Under the hood:
✅ I replaced #PostgreSQL database storage by more suitable #ElasticSearch. It searches data faster and I have better control over results order
✅ I replaced #REST api by #GraphQL api for frontend - backend communication. This simplyfies a lot both the #React frontend and the #NextJs server implementations.

#graphql is good, but not for the reasons you think it is.

So far, we spent the morning with discussing how the Neos UI will communicate with the server-side in order to retrieve and update data for the document tree, inspector and other parts. Lots of things to consider, asynchronous operations, updates, data amounts, extensibility, performance ... #neoscms #neossprint #reactjs #graphql
