On the way back from Edinburgh, Gruoch and I stopped at a wee layby, halfway between Dalwhinnie and Laggan (A889). We discovered a small, little used, track that gives easy access to the nearby hills. Perfect!
A lucky find.

Gruoch: "Iain, I smell dogs. They must be trapped inside."
BTW
Gruoch *never* needs grooming, by me or anyone else. We are both pleased about that.

Happy anniversary to us.
Gruoch and I have been together for two years. She can still be a bit of a handful, but, I don't regret getting her for one second. Having Gruoch is still one of my best decisions. She's a great girl.
As usual, Gruoch will be celebrating to-night by having sirloin steak, followed by whipped double cream. I might have the same.

Legless again.
#Gruoch found this on a different walk (not the one I've nicknamed "The Wicker Man walk").
In all the years I've lived in the Highlands I've never come across so many deer parts littering the countryside. Is culling more common, or is butchering now the norm?
Just discovered the movie "DC League of Super-Pets". The hero is called Krypto.
Apart from his non-hairy tail, Krypto looks just like Gruoch.
Anyone know where I can get a superhero cape for Gruoch?

The weather for to-day's #DogWalk was much better than expected.

@CattleBaron
#Gruoch likes chewing on Red Deer antlers, not so interested in Sika deer antlers.
Yesterday, #Gruoch had a friendly encounter with the "neighbour's" dog, Frankie. We passed again to-day. They were like best friends.
Previously (for the last 18 months), they hated each other with a vengence. Passing each other they would strain at the leash, snarl, and want to have a go. What a change.
#Gruoch found a Hobbit house.

Just when I think everything is hunky-dory, I find this year's first tick on #Gruoch.
And so it begins.
The saga continues...
#Gruoch found a Sika deer leg (lower part). It was a few hundred metres from the severed heads. Quite fresh, probably less than a few days old.
UPDATE
A while ago I spoke to the "contract shooter", he claimed the stag's head was nothing to do with him. I had to accept that statement.
However, last week things took a turn for the (even more) bizarre. There is a particular area on this walk where #Gruoch always pays particular sniffing attention. One day, I noticed why. Three stags heads had been thrown into three neighbouring trees. They'd been there long enough for only bones & antlers to be left.
Shades of The Wicker Man,
I was in An Aghaidh Mhòr yesterday. I met a fellow dog-walker. Her opening gambit wasn't "Hello", "Good morning" or "Nice day". Nope, it was "That's a Romanian dog". Thing is, she was absolutely right. She said she could tell by just looking. Amazing!
We are at the seaside again.
More photos to come.
