“Similarly the Intercept, like the Guardian, was subject to an internal takeover that delivered it entirely into the hands of the neo-conservatives.”

Have to agree (again) with Craig Murray. The Guardian today is a faded, bleached out shadow of what it once was.

“Politically motivated attacks by anti-trans politicians have fueled countless acts of discrimination targeting trans youth, and led to a horrific increase in acts of violence and murders of trans people"

#TheGuardian #guardianuk The Guardian trying to sell itself as standing up to the Tories for the last 13 years just leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth since they spent a chunk of that time laying into the Leader of the Opposition, thus ensuring we ended up with the current crop of rightwing criminals.
@leighbooker #GuardianUK a few years behind the curve as us usual. Trusts can’t get enough substantive staff to cover normal clinics so facilities would be sitting idle. Straight choice: pay enough to attract sufficient staff or pay more to private companies. Guess which the government favours?
#JohnCrace writes in his Digested Week in today's #GuardianUK how he expected a speed awareness course to be "punitive and shaming". Instead he found it "highly informative and thoroughly worthwhile". I can endorse that, having done a course in person pre-pandemic. These courses should be part of preparing all drivers for today's road conditions. Perhaps the human misery flowing from road accidents - let alone the financial costs - would be reduced if they were.

@Jlecluse @bazpoint It's also now being reported in #GuardianUK as well, so it's getting past enough sub-editors to be worth publishing.
@vanbadham Maybe the issue is that the news people haven’t really tried yet? I’m not seeing much effort to advertise Mastodon addresses on news articles, but plenty of Twitter handles. You can’t expect people to find you if we don’t know you’re there. Sure, it’s starting from scratch again, but surely that’s no different to how it was with the first Twitter account, the first Facebook page, the first website… I remember how clunky the first #GuardianUK website was. It got better.
