@n8 I see no reason today why archive formats like music and video should use proprietary formats. Games unfortunately are a more complex issue and we're not at a stage where open source game engines can keep up with the technical evolution of proprietary hardware.

To be specific, I'm using #Steam #Proton to run #GuildWars2 on #Ubuntu.

However, it would be very interesting to see older games re-released with open and free licences.

@Eris oh, yes. Depending on how far back you are on the story, it may take some catching up, but #GuildWars2 is a game that really respects your time, so any progress you had will still be as good as it was back then.
Also, you're probably siting on some valuable birthday presents.

Today was the launch of the 4th expansion to #GuildWars2: Secrets of the Obscure. This is an amazing game with an amazing level of attention to detail. One of the great elements of this game has always been the musical score and Secrets of the Obscure delivers once again.

The best thing is you don't even have to play the game to appreciate this wonderful music:

🎮 Tonight, our Guild Wars 2 raid group got the final Challenge Mode kill in raids! Qadim the Peerless was the only CM we'd not cleared, and that went down tonight!

It's been about 2 years since we started raiding as a group, with most players being almost fresh to PvE as they primarily played WvW. Progressing through normal bosses and onto and through CMs has been an absolute blast!

Onto some Strike CMs!

@memo yes, nowadays Proton is pretty solid for #GuildWars2. I have been running it through Steam on Ubuntu, and it's flawless. i5 gen 11 with nvidia gtx 1660. Last night we had an awesome 50x50x50 fight over Stonemist Castle, not a single frame drop.

After several weeks of grinding the fight, our amazing group got the clear of CM Old Lion's Court with the title achievement! Had a blast grinding this out! May go HT CM next, or some of the old raid CMs. 🤔
