#RAID controllers are trash and should not exist.

Consider buying an #HBA [Hostbus - Adaptor] instead, and use a real #Filesystem [#btrfs, #ext4] with actual Raid [#dnraid] or even better use #ZFS with it's #ZRAID option...

Heute einen Server in den Fingern gehabt, dem ich sein #EXT4 Rootfs auf #BTRFS mit #RAID1 umziehen wollte. Lief auch alles gut, bis ich festellen musste, das der #HBA nur ein Blockdevice beim Boot anbietet und erst dann alle weiteren Devices. Etwas schlecht wenn btrfs da nen zweites Device für sein Raid sucht.
#SuperMicro hardware, schon mal jemand den Case gehabt und eine Idee wie man das Fixt? Im (U)EFI/Bios habe ich auf die schnellle nicht finden können.

Problem bei qualifizierten elektronischen Signaturen (QES), die bei einigen Heilberufsausweisen (#HBA) zum Signieren verwendet werden müssen. -Das verhindert elektronische Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung (#eAU) oder #eRezept.

@parvXm Yes, it does fit eight 3.5 drives plus two 2.5.

If you prefer stability and price over performance then look for an older #SuperMicro board, ideally with a proper CPU and memory on board already.

Also try to get your hand on an old raid controller like a #MegaRAID #LSI 9240-8i, ideally something that can be flashed into IT mode so it acts as pure #HBA to work with #ZFS.

DON'T fall for cheap PCIe SATA adapters with #ASMedia or similar crap chips on.

Actively-cooled #lsi #hba in operation! Probably gonna order a #noctua Nf-A4X20 40x20mm fan for extra reliability, but it does work! Heatsink is not stupidly hot, and my data is still accessible. #TrueNAS boot drive is still using motherboard SATA, but for now, that's ok. Really happy with how this turned out.
