After the COBS protocol is implemented on the #amateur #satellite downlink, then we move to to uplink receiver.
Here's how FSK can be received with HDL (Verilog). Diagram in the image below.
There's more advanced ways to do it, but this is where we're starting over at ORI. The multi-channel uplink will be done with multirate techniques. This is for #opensource #HEO payload work.

Final stretch of an important component for a COBS protocol decoder. This goes into #Haifuraiya which is an #opensource #HEO or #GEO #amateur #satellite on the #microwave bands.
This writeup shows how the #VHDL was designed for the #FPGA used.
There's a bug with tlast right now, but it's a problem only when frame delimiters are stretched more than a byte. This isn't something that "should" happen, but it "could", so the decoder is designed to tolerate it.

#opensource #fpga work for #amateur #satellite. Better testbench revealed mistakes in the combinatorial part of the #HEO transponder design. Will get fixed today. This is a COBS protocol decoder, to make the downlink baseband frames much more resilient.

The current #JAMSAT Journal has Open Research Institute's #opensource #amateur #HEO #satellite proposal, called #Haifuraiya. Plenty of details, runs pages 17-29.

For complex RFICs, the behavior is set by profiles or configuration files. For the #opensource #amateur #HEO #satellite we are working on at #ORI, the profile sets the symbol rate as low as the chip can go: 10 MHz.
Here in the image we are at an intermediate step of modifying rates. On a spectrum analyzer is data from a DMA read coming from a Zynq, transferred to an AD9371, and TX at 2 GHz in the lab.
