Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last!" premiered 100 years ago today. Still can captivate an audience -- I saw it recently at a small movie theater and it captured the audience's attention the entire time. 70 minutes of non-stop gags.

What I hadn't realised was, I booked a seat on the balcony which was actually the arm chair from an old three-piece suite we donated to #TheCurzon when they were renovating the balcony. It's been beautifully reupholstered, and is much comfier now.
So, I sat watching an old #BlackAndWhite film in the chair I used to watch old black and white films on TV when I was a child. #BusterKeaton, #HaroldLloyd, #BusterCrabbe, #Chaplin, #LaurelAndHardy.

Hope ya’ll had a nice weekend, mine was a bit busy. These are some pieces from around the end of 2013. My first quarter of teaching at comics school had been rough, the student surveys were merciless. Over break, I completely gutted my inherited courses and made them completely my own. Thus began the folly of gutting and revising, and never really teaching the one class the same way twice. Such is the grind.
