If you see someone with an official assistance dog you do not approach the dog without first consulting the owner.

They are working dogs who concentrate on alerting their owner to dangers, by going straight up to the dog and petting them you are breaking the bond between the assistance dog and its owner.

With the exception of blind dogs which are NEVER to be approached, you can ask an owner politely if you may give the dog some attention. Do not get offended and/or angry if the #AssistanceDog's owners says "No".
