Does anyone know why my browser displays this #yiddish / #hebrew character bigger than the rest?

Jesus spoke in parables throughout His whole ministry on the earth (Matthew 13:34), to determine who had (spiritual) eyes to see and ears to hear, to give them the understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 13:10-11). We cannot fall into the trap that Jesus was just telling a story; no, it’s a warning to the Church for those with illuminated understanding.

According to the scripture above, the difference between the wise and foolish was the possession of oil. The oil is referring to the Holy Spirit, the teacher and counselor (John 14:26).

The Holy Spirit is what enlightens us to the understanding of the revelation of Christ. It is much more than just knowing we need Jesus, as we will discover in the writings of the Early Church.

God keeps His Promises

Haggai 2:5 ‘As for the promise which I made with you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit stands [firm and immovable] and continues with you; do not fear!’
The word for "stands" using the Strong's dictionary, translates to the Hebrew word 'âmad meaning to dwell, endure or remain. This word appears in scripture over 500 times!

Throughout scripture we have seen many trials and triumphs. God's Word applies to all His children and just as God guided men like Abraham, Issac and Moses, He also will lead us through all our days.

When standing before our Egypt, the Lord puts our faith to the test. Referring back to God's words, "Do not fear". Through every storm, hold on to the promise and the pillar that is our savior, Jesus Christ.

This Means That

The Hebrew language, or Hebrew thought, is vastly different from Greek (western) thinking as it is based on a symbolic/figurative language.

The Bible was written in the Hebrew language and understanding this concept is key to understanding how to read and properly interpret what the Word is saying.

The Scriptures are filled with symbolism; the entire book is written this way to convey a deeper meaning to those who will search it out. Certain words and their meanings have been lost in translation causing us to miss out on the life of the Word.

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” (Proverbs 25:2)

Restoration of the Soul

How does the Lord restore our soul? To be restored is to be brought back to the original state, meaning there is a default or issue with the image of something. In Hebrew thought, our mind and soul are the same thing. The Lord restores our soul by changing the way we think.

Western culture says, “I am, therefore I think”; while Hebrew thought believes, “I think, therefore I am.”

We were created in the image of God, but through the rebellion and disobedience of man, we fell from His image (Gen 1:26, Gen 3). God restores us back into His image, through the renewing of our mind, or the way that we think (Rom 12:2). This all happens through the knowledge and understanding of Scripture (Col 3:10).

One of the most important questions to ask while reading Scripture is: “why?”

The way we think, is not the way that the Lord thinks (Isaiah 55:8). God wants us to know Him, which comes by understanding His character, His ways, and His patterns. Asking God why He does something gives us wisdom and access into God's mind. It allows us to have an intimate relationship with God and know Him on a deeper level.
Our process as Christians should be to strive to know His ways (thoughts) and walk in them. This can ONLY happen through renewing our mind (thoughts) through the deeper understanding of His word (Col 3:10).

What's in a Name?

In Western thought, a name is just an identifier - it distinguishes them from other people.
In Hebrew the name of an individual is more than an identifier, but descriptive of his character, function, and destiny.

We see throughout the bible; God would give people name changes that would align with the destiny God had for them. Abram means ‘exalted father’ but his name got changed to ‘father of multitudes’ because his destiny was that he would have descendants as numerous as the stars (Gen 15:5, Gen 17:5). In the book of Revelation, the overcomers will receive a new name (Rev 3:12). God wants to reveal who we truly are and the destiny for us.
