It would be interesting to learn more about those programmes, particularly how effective they will be in ten years.

The column also praises the finances of the province. I don't doubt that the #JasonKenney ministry has worked hard to hold per capita programme spending flat, but the balanced budget is largely due to increased oil prices. #Alberta really needs to use the #HeritageFund to wean the government from the boom-bust cycles of oil royalties.

I'm a broken record, but more important for Alberta than paying down debt, lowering taxes, increasing spending on various things, is getting off the boom and bust oil income. The government needs to rebuild the #HeritageFund , with the ultimate aim that all royalties go there and the government only collects the interest.
