A proposed Michigan health department budget includes funding to pay off Highland Park’s water debt.

The city recently filed for bankruptcy after it lost a legal battle with Great Lakes Water Authority, which says Highland Park owes about $24 million.

Both have until May 31 to reach a payment agreement.
