Good food and then I went to spend more time trying to understand Sydney's colonial history.

After a few weeks of looking at printed materials it was excellent to see artefacts IRL. I would have liked to see more material from women in the Pacific, but then again, I always do. I appreciated the featuring of the Pacific and Islanders in the Aus Museums collections. Wish I had some time to spend in their archives! 🤓

Mander-Jones liked to create drafts-for articles, reviews, diaries and exhibition catalogs. Lucky for researchers they're archived at the State Library of New South Wales.

Sorting through PMJ drafts like this indicates how her travel diaries were created

Yesterday was spent in 1940s-50s with Phyllis in the United places- States and Kingdom.

Her letters contain beautiful sketches, drawing the reader's attention to items she really wanted to capture from her tours.

Phyllis didn't keep notebook diaries. She wrote of her Pacific and American travels on a note pad, or touring company paper.
