Does anyone out there in social.coop land (or my wider network) have experience/links/examples of #HomeEducation #cooperatives (particularly, but not essentially in a UK context)?

Context:

We have a lovely local group of #HomeEd families here, kids currently from 0-10yo, various approaches but quite a strong skew towards #UnSchooling/ #SelfDirectedLearning. Centred around a weekly session in a local community hall.

Today (and indeed this week) I am grateful for the time I get to spend with the other parents of our little local #HomeEd tribe.

This journey is often a rollercoaster, and the responsibility is sometimes terrifying. It is easy to believe it is uniquely so for our family.

Sharing experiences and knowing you are not alone stabilises and raises you up. And wow do I need that sometimes.

Hey, guess what? Here we are again making the cliche #HomeEd mistake:

- Forget the existence of half-term.
- Go to the park on a Monday afternoon as usual.
- Be horrified that other children exist, and in enormous numbers.

Nice short thread on supporting kids with maths even if you think you're no good at it yourself.

And in general, listening to children explain something to you is a great way to support & encourage them :-)

In the UK, education is legally compulsory for young people - but it doesn't have to be in a school.

"#HomeEducation" can be kind of a misleading name, inasmuch as a lot of it takes place out and about :-)
