Over the past decade of owning this laser printer, I periodically wrestle with getting it connected successfully to multiple computers on my home network, but never fully succeed. I always had it connected to USB and then shared in Windows (no AD, just home machines).
GUESS WHAT?! IT HAS A FUCKING ETHERNET PORT!
I just never checked. Plugged into network, set static IP, autodetected across the board.
BTW, this thing has otherwise been a tank (Brother DCP-7065DN). #homelab #tech #computer #PC
@geerlingguy I use #Ubuntu for #homelab stuff, and support industrial control software running on #RHEL. The companies we support need essentially 100% uptime, so they definitely pay for the enterprise support.
I get why having a free version of RHEL is needed for developers, which it seems is still available. But what is the argument for needing to build and distribute a binary duplicate distro like Rocky?
Just trying to understand why this #Redhat move is so disruptive.

Upgraded my instance to v4.1.0 released yesterday. No hiccups yet, although I'm just writing my first post.

Holy crap, that was more work than I anticipated. Replaced the mobo, cpu, heatsink, ram, power supply in my primary #TrueNAS server. Also added some 5.25"-bay-to-4x2.5" SSD/HDD adapters. I had no major issues with the hardware build (this was the fun part), but software was problematic.
Main two issues: mobo time was too far out of sync for NTP to true it up (took me far too long to find out where in the bios vs. the IPMI to manually update it). #HomeLab 1/
Updated one #TrueNAS system to Bluefin. It went smoothly! I did need to uncheck "Disable host path safety checks" to get my Chia app to start. I'm currently plotting on another computer and transferring the files via a SMB share. Once complete, I can re-check it. Also, to see the app shell you need to log in as root (instead of the newly created administrator account).
I'm really liking the new UI enhancements to Storage and Datasets.
