I can understand that.. Personally I did both, ran my own instance for a while but I think #mastodon is not suited for single user, it consumes way too much resources for what's needed.
So I've been on mstdn.social for a few years and @stux is just a very good admin, well surrounded. Hence, no downtime at all.
But, I'm exploring a bunch of other solutions more suited for single user and in time, I'll move to that.
A bit confused re: the difference between #Mastodon and #ActivityPub. If I set up an ActivityPub server (e.g. #Honk), will posts there have the same status as "toots" on a Mastodon server? Like, will they be federated to Mastodon servers and will my user's federated feed include toots from Mastodon servers?
