House Martin management 🤣

As in every year we have lived here, we have House Martins with more than 10 nests in the eaves. This year some family (new to the neighbourhood) have constructed their Bijou residence above the back door. As the chicks have grown so have the droppings - but the door is a main canine thoroughfare and the mat has to stay. A tray, cleaned on a regular basis is the only answer.

Great to see the competition at dusk between the birds and bats.

A Swift! Yay!

And there are House Martins circling over the garden!

There were loads of Sand Martins down at the river earlier and, yesterday, a Swallow at White Post Farm

A cute baby House Martin that I rescued, it had fallen from it's nest and was on the ground where House Martins will not land so there was no help from it's parents, I took it to a rescue centre in the Gower, Wales.
Note, most fallen chicks should be left on the ground for the parents to look after but not House Martins, Swifts or Swallows as the parents cannot/will not land on the ground.
