When you lose your housing so often there's little stability to plan or even rest so you can resolve long term problems and stop the cycle of poverty. Not all landlords are bad but they don't pay their bills, you do. This can lead them to objectifying humans based on class. I really sat with the math today & I hate that other landlord who screwed us by renting to someone else without telling us. We have to pay so much more for rent because of this. If I knew saw them in public, I’d be hard pressed not to spit on her. Essentially, the savings that we need to get through the summer months will be used up by then. I f*cking hate this system. It’s my oldest son’s 26th birthday. We have been estranged for a little while, I’m not sure how to define it. I usually spend today ruminating about how terrible a parent I was (no, im not one of those who says that my kid is bad for not talking to me). This AM has been intense due to our housing situation & my car, etc. Anyway, I texted him a happy birthday. & he sent me a song he likes. Just b/c he thought it was really good. & now we are texting about anime.

I contacted the place we had arranged to move into on the 15th to get that in motion, pay, etc. she emails me that she decided to let the current tenants stay through May. She never contacted me. Right now I’m just numb, later I will break down and cry.

I’m feeling heavy this evening, weighted by the calls for help I hear answering the Mutual Aid email etc. Families sleeping under bridges, multiple families locked out from home & possessions, kids sleeping in vans. We’ve hit some sort of inflection point here in central NC; things are getting worse significantly faster than before. The needed resources do not exist. Sorry to dump on you.
