According to the 1850 census, Augustus Allen (co-founder of Houston), Charlotte Allen, and their daughter, Eliza, resided in the Old Capitol Hotel, which they owned at the time.
The hotel keepers also resided there, one with his family. The other residents were three merchants, a lawyer, a coach driver, and a stock raiser.
