Having felt really quite despairing at the lack of #insects earlier in the summer, I'm somewhat heartened to have seen #butterflies and #hoverflies I'd never seen in the garden before over the last month. I still feel wildlife is in desparate trouble but recognise that we can do individual actions to help while continuing to push for a collective response to halt ecosystem destruction.

Hoverflies on cilantro / coriander flowers

A diverse ecosystem attracts beneficial insects as well as bees. Hoverflies are pollinators in their own right. Their larvae also eat aphids, which can't be a bad thing!
