Blustery day but emergency services putting on a bit of a show at #Hoylake lifeboat station.

Low-res but by way of an experiment.

The trains from #Liverpool are already terminating at #Hoylake. There is a rail replacement bus.
The footpath to #WestKirby alongside the railway is also closed on a few days. #Open2023 #wirral

Some farmers have been planting cereals, others have been planting tents.
I jest. This is the camping/glamping village for #Open2023. It's situated on the former #Hoylake municipal golf course closed recently due to cutbacks.
Good day for watching swallows dart across the fields of #Wirral
#PSA Reminder to the good folk of #WestKirby and #Hoylake that there are changes to bin collections as well as parking restrictions (and traffic diversions/restrictions TBA) due to #Open2023.

Dodged the weather during a beach walk from #WestKirby to #Hoylake. Preparations for #Open2023 well advanced. #wirral

This morning's walk from my doorstep. You will need to zoom in to see the islands!

Waders Walk is a gallery of paintings by local artists and school children of the birds that can be seen at #Hoylake. It's a very nice feature and complements the explainers mounted by the council facing the sea.
Part of the beach at #Hoylake is being allowed to become salt marsh and there is a plethora of new plant species emerging. Hilbre and Middle Eye in the background and then Wales on the far side of the Dee estuary.
Lots of #birds thereabouts, notably cormorants, oystercatchers and shelduck this morning.
In the distance a large wind farm which I wasn't too keen on to start with but now rather like.

Best known now as a venue for the Open Golf which returns next year. This is the disused (?) municipal course which is clearly being maintained and presumably will serve again as a practice area for the Open. Lost a few balls there but thankfully avoided hitting passing trains. #hoylake #wirral #photos
Quick visit to a slightly windswept #Hoylake this morning. Lovely Art Deco station but could do with a paint job in places. I suspect the railway "made" Hoylake as commuter belt for Liverpool although folk were enjoying the seaside there already. Also known for its horseracing at one time. #wirral #railway #photos
