Curious update of Dickens' Yuletide classic sees the Grant Mitchell actor resist any attempt to break away from the character that made him famous in the starring role of Eddie Scrooge, a mean gangland crim.

Unsure if this is meant to be self-aware parody or an attempt at a gritty update of the Victorian tale.

Elf on the shelf is a bloody nuisance. #FakeChristmas

A family friend got tired of it, and left a note from the elf to say (s)he'd gone away for a few days.

Then 5 days later there was a crashed rocket with sweets everywhere on their dining table when they 'returned'.

The letter gets used regularly, but not the rocket! Or sweets.

Decided to go fake #christmastree for the first time in 10 years this year. I may come to regret it but after last year last Covid Christmas when I couldn’t smell the tree and it wilted in about 2 weeks I think it’s worth a shot #humbug
