There apparently is an open source re-implementation of #SecondLife called "Open Simulator" that supports teleporting between servers in the so-called #Hypergrid but I'm not sure how smooth the experience is.

Are you aware of the Third Room protect, using the matrix protocol to federate virtual worlds? I wonder if they're aware of the OpenSim/ HyperGrid ecosystem?
