A very nice day 😎 today for some #collaborative #science on the Fisheries and Oceans Canada (#DFO) R.V. Cisco within #Hamilton Harbour. The team from #SUNY Buffalo State is out collecting benthos with Ponar sampler and drop-down camera (Benthic Imaging System) to complement our monitoring project looking at zooplankton and phytoplankton in the Harbour, which is impacted by #Hypoxia (low or no oxygen) during the summer. #GreatLakes

Adenosine is a molecule that plays a role in many different biological processes. It is involved in the #hyperaemic response, which is when the blood flow to the #myocardium (heart muscle) increases in response to #hypoxia or ischemia (lack of oxygen). Adenosine is also involved in #bone remodelling, where it can activate certain receptors to either increase or decrease the development of #osteoclasts (cells that break down bone).
