The definition of #anonymization seems to change in the EU. On #IAPP’s website @SophieStalla_B and #AndrewBurt explain what that means:

Until there is an official standard, we offer guidance of how to anonymize #data under the #GDPR:

A week after #DPC22 in Brussels I'm still impressed by the quality of the sessions. Most inspiring for me was the closing keynote by @ssnstudy@twitter.com as some gourmet food for thought. Thanks again, Alessandro Acquisti!
Sooner or later, there will be an attempt to provide #enforcement agencies w/ access to #data amassed in datasets, for very good reasons. This data will be accessible and reusable. We should be attentive as this will come with risks @W_Wiewiorowski@twitter.com #DPC22 #IAPP @PrivacyPros@twitter.com 2/2

I am especially interested in the re-use of #biometrics for purposes other than the original one - @W_Wiewiorowski@twitter.com at the #DPC22 #IAPP @PrivacyPros@twitter.com 2/2
This is not the moment to push the narrative on the need of having DPAs as educators as alternative to enforcers. This is the moment of advancing proper #enforcement of #GDPR and accomplishing its mission @W_Wiewiorowski@twitter.com at #IAPP #DPC22 @PrivacyPros@twitter.com 4/5

The #EDPSconf2022 served as a broad and long-term reflection on our collective approaches to #enforcement. We are happy that our conference kickstarted such a debate. @W_Wiewiorowski@twitter.com in conversation with B. Bellamy during #DPC22 #IAPP @PrivacyPros@twitter.com 2/5

#IAPP #DPC22 @W_Wiewiorowski@twitter.com: As regards transfers, #EDPS as public authority is itself subject to compliance challenges eg w/ cloud services & #datatransfers. On alternatives to #GDPR adequacy, I frankly do not believe in alternative global agreements 1/5

I am at this conference in #Brussels today #iapp #dpc22: https://iapp.org/conference/iapp-europe-data-protection-congress/
First thoughts:
1. It's huge. Lots of companies, attorneys, some regulators, very little #academia and #ngo. One can learn that data protection can be big business
2. #Covid is over. I am (almost) the only one wearing a mask, although many, many are coughing, sneezing, etc.
3. #Data Law is the new thing. #DSA, #DMA, #DA, #DGA etc. bring so much and so complex regulation #GDPR suddenly looks very simple.

After a thought provoking keynote speech by Mette Birkedal Bruun on the religious roots of #privacy there was an incredibly topical panel discussion about privacy implications of the invasive tracking of #football player's data with Jorge Oliveira e Carmo of #FIFA, Sean Cottrell of #LawInSports, Alexander Bielefeld of #FIFPRO, Graham Doyle, former defender in the Irish premier divison and now deputy Irish #DPA humorously moderated by the comissioner herself Helen Dixon. #iapp #dpc22

This afternoon at 16:15 (CET), EDPB legal officer, Gintarė Pažereckaitė will discuss the concepts of automated decision-making and profiling during her panel at #IAPP Europe data protection conference. Really interesting session at #IAPP conference with Irish DPC Helen Dixon leading a panel discussion with FIFA DPO and others, talking about the use of player and match data being used for ‘improving the game’ and also for commercialisation. Fascinating to think about the intersection of elite sport with player data rights. Hard to imagine a footballer going up to the coach and trying to exercise their right to object!
