The WGA strike has been going for over three months.
A lot has been said about the #AMPTP wanting to drag this out until the writers start losing their houses, but you know who is really going to start ending up on the streets? #IATSE. Most of us don't have side gigs.

Good news! #IATSE has granted #TheAnimaionGuild national jurisdiction. So any animation shops in the U.S. that want to organize will be represented by one Guild rather than fragmented IATSE locals. The first time IATSE has nationalized a guild in over 25 years! 💪🏼

Worker/artist owned cooperative — with distribution, to tell their own stories. Images below.

1. Workers, writers, and artists start a cooperative production company

2. They license/option existing stories to the company (which they own together!) and put stories on a website where audiences can access them

3. Stories can be scripts, treatments, readings, storyboards — it's great material in those formats, and people will dive into those stories just the same

4. Share the website (distribution!) with followings, along with a way to subscribe

5. You now have a worker/writer/artist owned cooperative, with distribution, stories, and an audience!

the first-ever #vfx workers survey results have been published! last year #IATSE conducted an industry-wide study of VFX workers' rates and conditions, and the picture is not pretty.

#IATSE is currently negotiating for reasonable wages, benefits, and rest time. Among other sticking points, Hollywood management apparently still considers streaming productions "new media" and underpays for them on those grounds.

My IATSE friends are in favor of rejecting the low wages, benefits, and rest that management is currently offering, in favor of striking if necessary for their own reasonable terms.
