I've done an impeccable U-turn and downloaded the full #ICPhS2023 proceedings, and what I really would like to know is why it's already the *second* edition!?
Also if you're desperate to know the page numbers of your papers (eg to update CVs) but don't want to download the whole 875MB brick, let me know and I'll be happy to look them up.
looking through the official #ICPhS2023 photo album and, for sure there are some really nice pics, but my goodness some of them are so paparazzi-style it's very creepy
The 🔥full text🔥 of Tamara Rathcke’s and mine #ICPhS2023 paper is now freely available through ResearchGate here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/373076225_Unmasking_the_truf_impact_of_community_masks_on_the_perception_of_voiceless_fricatives_in_English — On my ResearchGate you can also find the slides from the talk. @linguistics
Title: Unmasking the truf: impact of community masks on the perception of voiceless fricatives in English
Authors: Massimiliano Canzi & Tamara Rathcke
You know what, I truly enjoyed #ICPhS2023, and a lot more than I'd expected to.
Maybe still it's the adrenaline talking, but I'm not as drained as I'd expected as well.
Can't wait for #ICPhS2027 @ Victoria, Canada!
Some kind folk took really lovely pictures of me giving my talk at #ICPhS2023 yesterday and managed to make me look engaging and all 🥰
I’m super excited to announce another free, online workshop for September. Dr Michele Gubian (LMU, Munich) will teach on “modeling multi-dimensional and misaligned time-varying contours”. Everyone (#ICPhS2023, @linguistics) welcome!
This workshop introduces functional PCA and landmark registration, two techniques that enable to perform effective statistical analysis of time-varying contours originating from acoustic or articulatory measurements of speech production.
Hoping #ICPhS2023 organizers can figure out the #vegan food situation I've asked them about. They are always out of their vegan item by the time I get to the special diet section during breaks, so I'm stuck with whatever I have in my bag...
I met a fellow harpist today at #ICPhS2023 and I cannot sufficiently express how emotional I was
Wow, the poster rooms at #ICPhS2023 are intense! Multitalker babble noise in the extreme, and can barely walk between posters. Exciting to see so many speech people in the same room, but also makes me a bit anxious
Prague here we gooooooo, see you at #ICPhS2023, phoneticians!
Unbelievably I’m not the only one flying from Leeds.
I’m heading to Prague 🇨🇿 today for a week of #ICPhS2023. On Tuesday I’m presenting joint work with Tamara Rathcke on the “Impact of community masks on the perception of voiceless fricatives in English” 😷🇬🇧🤷🏻♂️

🧵 Some thoughts on how the #ICPhS2023 session "Sociophonetics: Other varieties" (previously "Other languages") is titled.
Our paper is one of two on Korean in the session, together with one on Silesian Czech, one on German & Swedish, and one (I believe) German.
#Multimodality colleagues at #MMSYM2023 thanks for the live-tweeting! Sadly with the two big confs in my 2 fields (CA - #ICCA2023; Phonetics - #ICPhS2023) happening this year I wasn't able to join you in Barcelona. But looking forward to catching some of you at #GESPIN2023?

Three more deadlines to come over the next week, but I've finally got the biggest one down (#ICPhS2023) and so I *will* be celebrating tonight with more home DIY
Doing that happy dance when you find out you've got more time to write your #ICPhS2023 paper
